Opera North - Winter Season
Cavalleria Rusticana | Aleko | Cosi fan tutte
We stay at the recently refurbished Queens Hotel in Leeds for a two-night musical feast of opera at the newly expanded Grand Theatre.
Mascagni's powerful drama is twinned with Rachmaninov's rarely heard opera, based on a story by Pushkin. Mozart's effervescent comedy completes the trio.
Informative talks on each of the operas will be complemented by a visit to one of the jewels of Yorkshire – Temple Newsam House.

Day 1
Arrive at the Queens Hotel after lunch for the first Opera talk during the afternoon. An early dinner is followed by this evening’s performance at the Grand Theatre.
Day 2
After a leisurely breakfast we leave for Temple Newsam House. At the edge of Leeds, this huge Tudor/Jacobean mansion is a fascinating treasure house of wonderful artefacts, magnificent paintings and surprising stories. Free time follows during the afternoon. An early dinner is followed by the performance at the Grand Theatre.
Day 3
Guests are free to depart after a leisurely breakfast.
Dinner each night will be at the hotel or in selected restaurants near the Grand Theatre.
Upgrades/suites and additional nights can be arranged.
The Queens Hotel is adjacent to the city station giving easy access to trains from many parts of the UK.
There is a half-hourly train service from London Kings Cross with regular trains from Edinburgh, Birmingham, Cheltenham and the South West
