Opera in Paris

Day 1

Arrive during the day at the Hotel  Edouard VII in the heart of the city close to the Galeries Lafayettes. 

Welcome dinner a local restaurant, close to the Opera Bastille, before the evening performance.

Day 2

This morning we visit the Musee de la Vie Romantique which commemorates the lives of Georges Sand, Chopin and Pauline Viardot. Some free time during the afternoon before we gather for dinner and tonight’s performance of Rameau's Samson at the Opera Comique.

Day 3

Today we visit the Cite de la Musique which house a wonderful coleection of instruments and displays.  Once again there will be free time to sample the city before we meet for dinner and a short talk about tonight’s opera.

Opera and Music in Hamburg

Day 1

Arrive during the day at the Hotel Steigenberger in the heart of the city. 

Welcome dinner in the hotel or a local restaurant


Day 2

Today we visit the fine collection of medieval art in the Kunsthalle. There will be time to explore the city in the afternoon before we meet again for a short talk on tonight’s opera. Dinner will be taken in a nearby restaurant before we walk to the Staatsoper for a performance of La Fianciulla del West by Puccini.


Day 3

Today we visit the atmospheric Dreichstrasse and the waterfront. Once again there will be free time to sample the city before we meet for dinner and a short talk about tonight’s opera.

Day 4

This morning we travel to the stunning concert hall, the Elbphilharmonie on the waterfront for a symphony concert by the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg conducted by James Conlon. 

Daniel Cho is soloist in Bruch's Violin Concerto and the programme also includes Martinu's Double Concerto  and Dvorak's captivating 7th Symphony.

Free time in the afternoon before the evening performance of Verdi's Falstaff


Day 5

Guests make there way home after a leisurely breakfast.

Day 1

Arrive at the Hotel Westin Grand in the afternoon before welcome drinks and dinner at a local restaurant.


Day 2

Today we visit the Museum Island in the morning. After dinner at a nearby restaurant we travel to Deutsche Oper for the performance of Lohengrin

Day 3

Today we visit the German Historical Museum in the morning. A late lunch precedes today's performance of Parsifal  at the nearby Staatsoper at 16h00

Day 4

This morning there is free time before we meet for lunch and travel to Deutsches Oper for the performance of Tannhauser  at 17h00

Verona Opera Festival

The Verona Opera Festival, founded in 1913 by the legendary tenor Zenatello, is an unmissable experience of wonderful spectacle and fine singing.  The colossal scale of the productions, hushed thousands in the arena, the massed chorus and the intimate solos under the moonlight, make this a truly unique experience. 


The atmosphere in the arena is one of near tangible magic, one of the great cultural events of the Italian summer as we enjoy three nights of operatic magic under the stars.

Verona Opera Festival

We stay at the stylish, historic, Hotel Accademia  (4* Superior) which was the home of the legendary tenor Zenatello, who founded the Arena Festival in 1913.

It is just a few minutes away from the Piazza del Erbe and Piazza Bra


The arena is a magnificent space with seating for almost 14,000. Seats are in the Poltronissime which enables an excellent and comfortable view of the stage in the centre of the arena.


Day 1 

We meet at the hotel during the afternoon for a sightseeing walk in central Verona including the tombs of the Scaligeri and the church of Sant'Anastasia before drinks, an opera talk and dinner. 


Day 2 

This morning we explore the basilica of San Zeno and the medieval Castelvecchio which houses a fine collection of Renaissance paintings. After a free afternoon we meet again for an opera talk followed by dinner in the Piazza Bra. After this we stroll across to the arena for a performance of  Verdi's Nabucco.


Day 3  

After a leisurely breakfast we head out to the vineyards of the Vallpollicella region for a wine tasting and lunch at a fattoria.  An optional dinner will be in a restaurant close to the arena before the evening’s performance of Verdi's La Traviata. 


Day 4

A free day to explore the streets and piazzas of this beautiful city. An optional trip to Mantua may be available. Dinner will be in a restaurant close to the arena before the evening’s performance of Bizet's Carmen.


Day 5

Today we visit the Palazzo Verità Poeta and Sala Morone in S. Bernardino monastery.

A final dinner will be celebrated before we head into the arena for a performance of Verdi's monumental Aida.


Day 6

After a final leisurely breakfast guests are free to depart.

Solo travellers are most welcome to join the tour manager and assistant for additional tours and lunches throughout the tour. We are keen that everyone feels involved and gets the most out of the tour.


This tour can be extended by a day for those who wish to visit Lake Garda and Sirmione after the opera. 


Easyjet, Ryan Air and others provide a range of low-cost flights to Verona Villafranca and Venice is just over an hour by train.

A easy coach or taxi connection from the airport takes around 20 minutes
